What is a file policy?

A file policy can be added to a folder at any hierarchical level in such a way that the data present in the folder can be shifted to a separate data storage location upon attaining a certain age. For example: Archive files that are older than a year.

Configuring the file system so that it would trigger an event when some particular pre-requisite is met, is called a file policy. It comprises of file layout policies with filters, and rules that should be applied in the form of tiers and/or file coding type.
